What NAD+ is, and why it starts to matter around 40
NAD+ is a coenzyme your cells use to turn food into usable energy and to run DNA repair. It is not obscure — it is in every cell you have, and without it you would not last a day.
Levels fall as we age. A 2018 review in Cell Metabolism set out the evidence for that decline and the mechanisms behind it.1 NMN is a precursor: your body converts it into NAD+. That is the whole logic of taking it.
In a multi-centre, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, 66 healthy adults aged 40 to 65 took either Uthever® NMN at 300 mg a day or a placebo, for 60 days. The trial was registered as NCT04228640 before it began, and published in Frontiers in Aging in 2022.2 That is a published human trial on the specific ingredient in our capsules, not a generic result borrowed from a different form of NMN.
One thing worth saying plainly: that trial used 300 mg a day and our capsules are 500 mg. The published evidence covers 300 mg, so 300 mg is the figure we quote. We are not going to imply the higher dose has been trial-tested, because it hasn't.
Where this gets more interesting for our customers: NAD+ decline appears to accelerate around the same life stage as perimenopause, and mitochondrial function is bound up with the fatigue, brain fog and slow recovery that women in their forties are routinely told is "just hormones".3 We think that deserves a serious explanation rather than a shrug.

The trials so far are small — dozens of participants, not thousands — and short, measured in weeks and months rather than years.
There is no published human trial showing NMN slows human ageing. Anyone telling you otherwise is selling something.

Do you test your products?
